A
pure dance incorporating polyrhythms, Jati Laya Swaram had the audience
tapping their feet to the compelling beats. Choodare highlighted the lokadharmi
(social) dimension to abhinaya (narrative expression). A particularly lively
Thillana provided for the grand finale of this celebration.
Bharatanatyam's
versatility to assimilate folk-dances and international music was highlighted
through the folk Raas-Leela (dance-drama depicting Krishna, Radha and the
people of Brindavan), and the fables of India.
Each of the
fables was set to fusion music, and the enactment by children and the colorful
costumes made for a dazzling production.
The tenth anniversary
was an accomplishment for the whole Lasya family- Volunteers, sponsors
were felicitated, elders and Gurus recognized for their contribution to
Bharatanatyam and Vidhya's life.
